The Early Years

Benjamin Netanyahu, born as Ben Nitay on October 21, 1949, is an Israeli politician who has served as the Prime Minister of Israel since 2022. Prior to this, he held the position from 1996 to 1999 and from 2009 to 2021, making him the longest-serving Israeli Prime Minister in history.

From Philadelphia to Politics

Born in Tel Aviv, Netanyahu spent his formative years in the United States, where he attended high school in Philadelphia. Returning to Israel, he joined the Israel Defense Forces and served as a captain in the elite Sayeret Matkal special forces unit. Netanyahu's political career began in 1988 when he was elected to the Knesset, the Israeli parliament, as a member of the Likud party.
