Yankees Snap Skid, Win Opener Against Orioles
Judge's Homer Highlights New York's Victory
BALTIMORE, Md. - Aaron Judge hit his 33rd homer of the season, his first RBI in over a week, as the New York Yankees snapped their six-game losing streak with a 6-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night.
Yankees Desperate for Win
The Yankees, who entered Friday in a 6-17 skid, were in desperate need of a win against the first-place Orioles. They got it thanks to Judge's homer and a strong performance from their bullpen.
Judge's homer came in the fifth inning off Orioles starter Dean Kremer. It was a solo shot that gave the Yankees a 2-1 lead. New York would add four more runs in the seventh inning, highlighted by a two-run double from Gleyber Torres.
The Orioles scored their only runs on a homer by Anthony Santander in the first inning. Kremer allowed three runs on six hits in 4 2/3 innings. The bullpen allowed just two hits and one walk over the final 4 1/3 innings.
The win is a much-needed boost for the Yankees, who are now 49-48 this season. They remain in second place in the AL East, but they are just 2 1/2 games behind the Orioles.
