Hurricane Nicole Makes Landfall in Florida as a Category 1 Storm

Strong Winds and Heavy Rains Slam the Coast

Hurricane Nicole has made landfall in Florida as a Category 1 hurricane, bringing with it heavy winds and dangerous storm surge. The hurricane made landfall just south of Vero Beach at approximately 3:00 AM ET. Tropical Storm Nicole has weakened to a tropical depression after crossing the Florida peninsula. Category 1 Hurricane Makes Landfall

Hurricane Nicole made landfall early Thursday morning as a Category 1 hurricane. The storm brought with it maximum sustained winds of 75 mph (120 km/h). The hurricane caused extensive damage to coastal areas, with downed trees and power lines reported. The storm surge also caused flooding in low-lying areas.

Tropical Depression Nicole Crosses Florida

After making landfall, Tropical Depression Nicole crossed the Florida peninsula. The storm weakened as it moved inland, but it still brought heavy rainfall to the state. The National Weather Service has issued flood warnings for several counties in Florida. The storm is expected to continue moving northward, bringing heavy rain and potential flooding to the southeastern United States.
